Fouad is an amazing individual who got involved with GMF right from the beginning. Fouad Bajwa : Free & Open Source Software Advocate | ICT4D Advisor, Trainer & Consultant Fouad Bajwa is a Social Entrepreneur, Advisor on Technology related Policy Issues, Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) Technology Evangelist and Innovator carrying a track record towards increasing the awareness and improving the perception of Open Technology in the Public, Private, Academic and Civil Society Sectors. He has represented the Civil Society in it's movement towards adoption and use of Information and Communication Technlogies for Development (ICT4D) and Internet Governance within Pakistan and globally. Achievements Summary * Global Internet Governance As a scholar on Internet Governance issues and alumni of the Diplo Foundation, Geneva (Diplo is an advisor to the UN/ITU Internet Governance Forum), Fouad represents the voice of the people and interests of Civil Society on various levels at national and global level with respect to Free & Open Source Software and ICT4D: o Member of the Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) to the UN/ITU Internet Governance Forum The Secretary-General of the United Nations established the Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) with the purpose to assist the Secretary General in convening the Internet Governance Forums. The MAG comprises of 50 Members from governments, the private sector and civil society, including representatives from the academic and technical communities. o Member of the Internet Governance Caucus (IGC) of the UN/ITU Internet Governance Forum The Internet Governance Caucus (IGC) was originally created by individual and organizational civil society actors who came together in the context of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) to promote global public interest objectives in Internet governance policy making. The mission of the Internet Governance Caucus (IGC) is to provide a forum for discussion, advocacy, action, and for representation of civil society contributions in Internet governance processes.
